The project of the new city of Songjiang is in the program "9 cities and 1 town" of the Songjiang District Planning Administrative Bureau.
This proposal for the new city aims to suggest how to create this new habitat where a good balance between artificial and natural environment can be achieved.
At the same time special attention is put on functional items in order to make Songjiang not only a beautiful place to live but also a modern and lively city with state-of-the-art services and infrastructure for business and commerce.
Conceived as a new town, Songjiang will be:
An ideal town: as a model of high quality of life for its inhabitants and a reference for the next satellite towns of Shanghai
Functional town: due to its high standard services and infrastructures, such as public transportation, leisure and tourism facilities, the university and a business centre
A town of memory: due to the presence of ancient relics to be restored, the conservation and renewal of large parts of the old city, the use of traditional typologies as a reference for the new design.
